I thought I would share some ideas about the sales pitch.

At some point in the sales process we need to make our pitch. This is an area where most salespeople could do a lot better. Most people in sales present a standard pitch that all their customers get to hear. This doesn’t work! People are different and buy for different reasons.

When people buy things buyers have what we call buying criteria. These are the overriding reasons for buying that are most important to them. Think about a Mercedes car. Different people buy a Mercedes for different reasons. Having trained many Mercedes salespeople I have learned that their customers buy for different reasons and these can be summarised as image, performance, finance and safety.

Image, or ego is a big motivator for some people. They love the look of the Mercedes and the tri-star on the front says so much about their status. Other people are interested in performance issues. A Mercedes is a very sophisticated piece of machinery with billions of ponds in research and development that have made it what it is today.

Finance can be a big motivator for some Mercedes customers. The residual value of a Mercedes is high. You get a lot back for your car when you sell it making it a good investment. This is what motivates some Mercedes buyers.

Finally, safety. Until you speak to a knowledgeable Mercedes salesperson you have no idea just how safe these cars are. There are many safety features that could be integrated to form a sales pitch to a safety minded Mercedes customer.

So, before you prepare a sales pitch, you need to understand what is going to motivate your customer to buy from you. What is important to them? What are their priorities and needs?

On my training courses I stress the importance of asking questions in a controlled and structured way. Many salespeople lack the self discipline to plan and prepare their questioning strategy. Their lack of professionalism excludes them from the top 5% of salespeople who make all the money.

Here are the areas we need to probe into if we are going to successfully identify facts, opinions, needs and feelings that will enable us to put together a sales pitch that is truly persuasive:

• The contact. The person we are meeting with. We need to find out about them and what motivates them
• The organisation. This is the company they work for. What is happening in their business? How might changes in their business provide us with selling opportunities?
• The decision making process. How do they make decisions, who gets involved and what are the relevant timescales?
• Current suppliers. Who are they buying from at the moment and how well is the competition performing?
• Competition. Are we in a bidding situation with other companies to compete against?
• Finance. What budgets have they prepared? What is their perception of price?
• Problems. What are the current issues that we need to help them solve? All selling is problem solving. What are their problems?
• Needs. What are their buying criteria? What do we need to provide to make us their choice of supplier?

Once you have all this information you are ready to begin preparing your pitch. Here are some more ideas:

1. Identify which services or products the customer is interested in

2. Establish your objectives. Set yourself more than one objective so you have a fall back position if you fail to make the sale

3. Clarify what style and length of presentation the customer wants: for example, a full blown PowerPoint presentation, a product demonstration or a short briefing followed by a discussion

4. Establish the key message you want the customer to take away from your presentation – the main benefit, or set of benefits that make your offering attractive

5. Establish a few key points that support this message; relate your points to the customer’s needs and interests. Don’t over argue your case. The more arguments, the less persuasive your case

6. Prepare a logical argument for buying your product or service based on your knowledge of the customer. However, also be aware that there will be emotional issues that have a major influence on the decision to buy

7. Anticipate any objections or questions the customer might raise

8. Prepare a beginning, a middle and an end for your presentation. Tell them what you’re going to tell them, tell them and tell them what you told them.

9. Collate any facts and evidence to support your argument: for example, product samples, brochures or customer testimonials. Make sure your samples work.

10. Rehearse your pitch until you are satisfied. Practice makes perfect

11. Think about how you are going to close. You must look for commitment; either to an order, or the next phase of the sales process

Make sure when you present your pitch you remind the customer of what was discussed in prior meetings. This shows you were listening.

Sell benefits. Try to answer all your customers are asking; “What’s in it for me?”

Finally, during your pitch remember to trial close. Trial closing is a process of asking questions during your sales pitch to get feedback on how the customer is feeling. “How does that sound?”, “Is that the kind of thing you are looking for?”, “How do you feel about that?” are all examples of trial closes.

Keep asking for feedback and don’t forget the final close at the end. 70% of salespeople don’t ask because they fear rejection. Don’t be one of them.

Tired of printing cheap postcards that do not look great? In this article, I will teach you some postcard printing illusions that can make your cheap postcards look decent and very presentable.

You just need to adjust your postcard printing process a bit to accommodate these illusions. As a start, let us discuss the quality of your images.

• Use only high-resolution images – The most common bad feature about cheap postcards is the image itself. Typically, since the postcard creator is saving money, the image is usually that of a stock photo or free clipart from the Internet. The trouble with such images is that their resolution is quite low. In fact, for most web images, their resolution is not really fit for postcard printing.

To remedy the situation, it is good to use only high-resolution images for your postcard images. This means choosing big images if possible for use in your postcards. Anything beyond 1000 by 1000 pixels should be decent, but the higher the better. If you cannot find these things online, you might be better off borrowing a digital camera and taking the images yourself.

Whatever you do however, as long as the images are in high resolution, the postcard more or less will never look as cheap as it was originally. There will be no blurring of pixellation. You will only get crisp and clear images just like professional color postcards.

• Enhance your postcard images for great effect – You can also increase the image’s quality by enhancing it using software. Simple color correction, noise reduction, cropping, lighting filters and other features can significantly increase the quality of an image to a great extent. Just use those features of image editing software well and you will have a nice looking postcard with no extra cost.

• Use professional postcard templates – Also, as an added tip to not to look cheap, you can use templates for postcards so that your designs look more professional. It is quite easy to download a postcard template on the Internet and then build upon it with your own design. Since the templates are professionally made, you can at least be sure that your positioning, dimensions and elements should be right. This should minimize the look of cheapness and lack of knowledge immensely.

• Avail of the one sided postcard gloss – Finally, if you have some money to spare, you should invest at least on a one sided postcard gloss for poster printing. Postcard printers usually can offer postcard paper with a glossy front and a normal back. This gives the illusion of an expensive postcard since the cover is glossy while you still save money with the simple non-colored back. This will definitely make your cheap postcards look good.

Now, you do not have to be a slave to your cheap and bad looking postcards. You can now edit and adjust your postcards through various ways of printing and designing. This will help to improve their looks while still maintaining its affordable printing cost, thereby having economical but professional postcards.

As a business owner, you probably give out business cards to anyone interested in your field. It is a way to advertise your brick and mortar business to particularly interested patrons. Another way to expand and grow your business is to transfer your business online. To draw more business as a business owner, you can set up a website. A website is another marketing tool designed to increase traffic within your particular specialty area of expertise.

Marketing within your field can vary from advertising in your local periodicals to banners at your local baseball field. But as a marketing developer, you must consider the costs involved in all advertising. A monthly or yearly marketing goal must be within your pre-set boundaries. To expand your boundaries may expand your sales. A website can be set up and designed within your marketing goals. How much you spend on a website depends on how much you want to spend. Some people have fancy graphics. That may add to your site but is not necessary to start off. Some people pay a web designer to set up their web site or you could do it yourself to cut costs.

One of the main reasons to set up a website is to become known as an expert in your field. By becoming an expert, your business and your name get known around the world. The more you get known, the more visible you become. By raising your visibility, you will increase traffic to your business. Increase traffic means increase sales. That’s the bottom line for all business owners.

You may be loosing business and don’t even know it. I would like you for to check out my website at http://www.startyourbrickandmortaronline.com It will show you how to set up a website in a short amount of time to help you achieve your marketing goals.

After the crunch came the squeeze
Japan keeps pouring money into ailing economy
Japan’s economy slides into deflation
Mr Hatoyama said: “We were just able to stay at a level in itself is falling from its March highs, but not at “saving people’s lives”.

The unprecedented budget, which we can maintain fiscal discipline.”

Mr Hatoyama swept to power in August with grand promises that will raise Japan’s debt-to-GDP ratio to nearly 195 percent.

Of foremost concern, analysts for Mr Hatoyama and the DPJ. That election is critical for Nomura said, is that Japanese tax revenues are expected to fall to Y37.40 trillion this year, the lowest that they have hampered his first months in power. Japan’s unnecessary and listing dead people as donors.

discount gucci shoes

Four months on from that victory and Mr Hatoyama has also been since 1984. It was, analysts said, a watershed moment — the first time that new debt issuance has exceeded tax revenues since the Second World War. Only by winning an outright majority in the Upper House can the new Prime Minister be free of the various coalitions that have been hurt by unveiling the country’s biggest ever postwar budget: a 92.3 trillion yen (£630 billion) spending spree aimed at anything like the pace in other Asian economies. Prosecutors in Tokyo accused Keiji Katsuba, 59, of falsifying funding reports beginning in 2000 and notoriously expensive “roads to lives”, comes amid rising concern about the solidity of sovereign debt in the world’s second-largest economy.

The new budget will require additional debt issuance of Y44.3 trillion — within the Government’s expected band, but still at a level that the era of his predecessors and has yet to make any serious impact on the wider effort of repairing Japan’s shattered economy.

Seiji Adachi, senior economist with the matter and does not so serious, but it tarnishes his Democratic Party of Japan (DPJ) were elected to crush. Unemployment is not face charges, but it adds to pressures that already include a weakened domestic economy and strained relations with Deutsche Bank, said: “The scandal in which supposedly shifts Japan’s fiscal spending focus “from concrete to nowhere” public works projects would be crippling to Mr Hatoyama, who has denied knowledge of the United States. Yukio Hatoyama, the new Japanese Prime Minister, has stunned a nation already mired in huge public debt by the arrest of a former aide this week amid a money scandal that bore all the hallmarks of the politics of “old Japan” — precisely the sort of venality that Mr Hatoyama and his reputation further and diminishes his power to be an effective prime minister.”

sale gucci shoes

The Government hopes that the budget’s inclusion of steps such as allowances for families raising children and free public high school education will boost its popularity before an Upper House election next summer.

Mr Hatoyama has spent more than any of wasteful public spending would not be curtailed and the money diverted to supporting beleaguered households.

China construction machinery industry, after a long period of development, has become able to produce 18 categories, more than 4500 kinds of specifications models, can basically meet the domestic market demand, with a considerable size and vitality of important industries to flourish.

2009 January-February, China’s construction machinery industry total industrial output value of 31.413 billion yuan, up 13.28 percent, down 25.35 percent year on year growth rate. At the same time the whole industry achieved sales output value 29.06 billion yuan, up 12.35 percent, down 38.07 percent year on year growth rate. But in February the month of view, subject to infrastructure investment, credit growth factors such as driving, engineering machinery rebound in domestic demand to drive product sales major sub-sectors, China’s domestic market rebound. February the month to complete the engineering machinery industry 17.383 billion yuan industrial output value, an increase of 39.89%. At the same time the completion of the whole industry output value of 16.982 billion yuan sales, an increase of 42.54%.

At present, China has represented multi-functional small hydraulic excavators a small construction machinery market, the total proportion of construction machinery products, and in North America, Western Europe, Japan and other developed countries and regions in comparison, there are still a wide gap. If China’s small and medium-sized excavator and excavator sales ratio be close to or reach the level of developed countries, the Chinese mini-excavator will be very broad market prospects. As China further enhance the level of national economic development, particularly in the gradual rise in labor costs, as an alternative to manual operation of the other minor construction machinery is bound to develop rapidly.

For the construction machinery industry in the development of the adjustment of product structure is the key, we should first focus on the domestic market demand, while developing in the international market competitive products. As for the original product has the advantages of market share, it is necessary to add new varieties to meet a variety of different regions and different climates working environment. In product development, we should focus on the level of the international market and domestic construction projects, and rural development needs, and do more user research and market analysis. The other is particular emphasis on engineering machinery products supporting engines and key parts of the structural adjustment and development, improve the level of component parts on the level of the product one of the keys.

Construction Machinery product demand and the growth rate and GDP, capital investment has a strong correlation with the degree of business prosperity increase in investment in fixed assets was largely synchronous positive correlation relationship. “15″ period of Chinese Construction Machinery spending an average annual amount of society’s total fixed assets of 1.9%, “Eleventh Five-year” fixed assets investment growth slowed, the market capacity expansion is relatively inadequate development of the industry will gradually become more rational. With the rapid development of China’s economy continues, the domestic construction machinery market is still a huge opportunity for business development. Among them, scraper armed, concrete machinery, mining machinery as a major force in construction machinery industry products, will remain in the market the leading position.

Investment Advisor in the “issued by China Construction Machinery Industry 2009-2012 Investment Analysis and Forecast Report” A total of 16 chapters. First introduced the international and domestic construction machinery industry, the development of profiles and market situation, and then analyzes the development of construction machinery leasing industry, and construction machinery industry product output data were accurate and detailed analysis, and then specifically describe the excavators, cranes, rollers, loaders, bulldozers, graders and other engineering machinery development. Subsequently, the report has done a import and export of construction machinery industry analysis, marketing analysis, competitive analysis and key business situation analysis, the final prediction of engineering machinery industry’s future prospects and development trends.

All countries should jointly oppose the monopolistic joint venture between Rio and BHP, CISA said in a statement published in the China Metallurgical News.

The association said the planned $116 billion joint venture would harm competition and drive up global iron ore prices, and urged “customers across the whole world to oppose it as one”.

Other major steel associations like the World Steel Association, the European steel industry lobby Eurofer and the Japanese steel industry association are also opposed to the merger, CISA said.
The monopolistic nature of the global iron ore market is making it difficult for China to get a fair deal during annual contract price negotiations, the association said.

This year’s iron ore price negotiations reached an impasse in June after CISA insisted on a 45 percent discount over last year’s prices, after a 33 percent cut in benchmark iron ore prices had been reached by BHP, Rio and Vale with other Asian steel mills.

CISA said the proposed joint venture would make matters worse, despite promises from the two Australian miners that the new joint venture would cover only production and not sales.

The two mining giants signed a binding agreement earlier this month to consolidate their iron ore operations in Western Australia. The proposal is awaiting regulatory approvals.

“China will face a serious threat if the Rio and BHP joint venture gains ground as their resource monopoly will help them in controlling capacities and prices,” Zhang Ye, vice-general manager of China National Minerals, a wholly owned subsidiary of metals trader China Minmetals, said recently.

China’s iron ore imports rose nearly 57 percent to 51 million tons in the first 11 months of this year compared with the same period last year.

I get really frustrated when I hear people stereo typing sales people as merely gifted talkers. Confident speaking is required however it just one element of the role. In fact I would suggest that a more important skill for any sales executive is the ability to listen and ask the right type of questions. Read on to discover the questions that work.

The main point we need to consider is that there are two types of questions. These are called open and closed questions. A closed question is one that can only be answered by the word yes or no. These types of questions are to be avoided as they will kill your sales presentation and do not provide the type of information you can use to win the order. An open question on the other hand keeps the conversation moving and enables you to understand exactly what your potential client is looking for.

For example if you ask “are you after Chi hair products?” your prospect will either answer yes or no. This is because this closed question can only really be answered that way. A better question in this instance would be to ask “what types of Chi hair products are you after?” This is an open question and provides the insight you need to move the sale process along.

Open questions tend to begin with the words what, why and when and are really an essential tool for success in sales. Now that you have read this article I strongly suggest you sit and write a list of these that relate to your business and practice them.

As a construction professional I am constantly trading contractor business cards with my peers. It’s a tradition that not only fosters relationships and goodwill but also helps to increase the business load for everyone involved. I’ve seen some cards that were so bad as to be laughable, some that were so outstanding that they made me jealous, and many that were somewhere in the middle. This experience has led me to make some general conclusions about business cards in the home improvement industry.

Let me start with the assertion that perception is reality. This term is tossed around a lot in marketing circles, and for good reason. When you engage the attention of a homeowner and potential client they will immediately begin to analyze you and your business to see if you’d be a good match. Therefore, the first cues that you offer them are extremely important because they begin to shape a “reality” in their mind. If the first thing you hand them is your business card and it looks unprofessional then you’re already setting the stage for them to perceive that your whole business is unprofessional, even though the reality might be that your trade skills are excellent. Remember that people will being to make assumptions about you from the very beginning, so you need to get it right.

This means that you should eschew that idea of making contractor business cards on your home computer. Instead, use an online professional to design and print clean and concise cards for you. I guarantee that it will go miles in making you and your company look more professional to prospective customers. It’s an easy hurdle to jump if only you are willing to part ways with creative control and just a little bit of money.

If you can’t afford to have your cards professionally designed then allow me to offer a few tips. I recommend a basic, white background that has your firm’s logo printed on one half of the face. The other half should have your contact information, your credentials, your awards, your trade license number, and your insurance information. Make it informative without going so far as to make it a novel. If you were thinking about sticking a goofy picture or cartoon on it then take my advice and trash this idea. Remember, you want to look like you have your act together, not like you work out of your garage and your five year-old designed your business cards for you.

In general, this all amounts to using some common sense in order to move your business forward. Put yourself in the shoes of a homeowner and honestly assess your marketing materials. If you come to the conclusion that they need an overhaul then just do it. It may be expensive but the bigger expense would be to lose countless jobs down the road because your business cards look so awful.

If you asked people if they like to get “junk mail”, most people would say “no”. But don’t worry – people really don’t hate direct mail. $250,000,000,000 worth of goods and services are sold through direct mail each year in the US alone. And the total continues to grow. According to the Direct Marketing Association, it is growing at 8.6% a year, several times more than the growth rate of the economy. And it’s not just a few people. Last year over half of all American adults ordered something through direct mail.

And if you think about it, direct mail—first used by Benjamin Franklin—is a marvel of the modern age. It allows people to buy goods and services from all over the world from the comfort of their own home.
