Sales techniques
A Google search on sales techniques or strategies (including more specific searches like a search on real estate sales technique or prospecting techniques or marketing tips or motivation strategies) will yield over a million results instantly. Even with so much information at your finger tips it is not any easier to perfect your sales techniques or advertising techniques. Even when you refine your search to terms like sales closing techniques, motivation techniques, presentation techniques, sales skills, and so on and so forth, it is rather hard to narrow down your search any further from among the million odd articles.

This morning I woke up with a thought, “how do I start this day in a way that will brighten up the day for a few stranger?†I decided to do what i do once in a while – offer a free hug to everybody who passes me by while i am jogging.
So I got plenty of very warm, fully embracing hugs and laughs today, and while doing so I struck a conversation with a young woman that was walking her dog. She seemed to be concern with something. As I sit next to her on a bench, she shared that her life seems to be defined by someone else – she is stuck in a bottom of a corporate ladder and doesn’t see a way out. In this economy changing a job might not be a good idea for her, but she feels as she outgrew her job, and her boss doesn’t help with her promotion no matter how well she performs. She feels that she makes no difference and lost her passion to what she has to spend 8-9 hours a day.

Its Good Or It’s Bad
You have two choices when you advertise.
Your ads can be intellectual (information focused) or emotional (experience focused).
Emotional ads take the reader and lead him along the path of experience. He feels and tastes and sees what the ad writer wants him to: “As the light sneaks in on a cool winter’s morning, you feel the soft air tickle your face. You know today is going to be filled with unique experiences that will leave you feeling like there is no place like this on earth.â€
However, when you choose the intellectual approach to ad writing, it’s no joking matter.

Your sales letters are losing you business – probably. I add the “probably†because I have to assume that there are one or two owners reading this, that are writing good sales letters. However, in the majority of sales letters I have reviewed and fixed, most do nothing better then reiterate the same information you can find in a telephone book.
What is the difference between a selling letter and a telling letter? A “selling†letter answers the readers question of “what’s in it for me†compelling them to respond favorably, whereas a “telling†letter only feeds the merchants ego and wastes the readers time.

Most people write intellectual ads the way they tell a joke. They open with an obscure reference to what’s coming, and then they spend the rest of the joke adding little pieces of information working their way up to the punch line.

Most people when marketing themselves or their business go and on about how they have made money and in the process they loss their readers. A good advert needs to be short, elaborate and straight to the point. This way you will catch the attention of the people who will read your advertisements.
By all means be proud of your success but for the purpose of clarity do not dwell on your achievements for you may end up losing prospective clients’ interest. To some extend you also end up being ambiguous. But I cannot ignore the fact that narrating about your achievement helps to motivate others.
